A ventral hernia is any hernia that occurs through the front wall of your abdomen. It includes umbilical hernias and incisional hernias. An “epigastric hernia” is a ventral hernia above the belly button.

Dr. Kevin Bain is a General Surgeon certified by the American Board of Surgery, with additional fellowship training in Bariatric and Minimally Invasive Surgery.
Dr. Bain attended Nova Southeastern University in Davie, Florida for his medical school training. Upon completion, he went into a General Surgery residency at NYU Langone Hospital – Brooklyn.
After successfully completing his residency, and serving as chief resident in his final year, Dr. Bain went on to complete a Bariatric and Advanced GI Fellowship at Banner Gateway Medical Center in Gilbert, Arizona. During his fellowship, he gained experience with the clinical management of morbid obesity and its associated co-morbidities, and developed advanced surgical skills to perform both primary and revisional weight loss procedures. He also had exposure to diverse foregut surgery, complex hernia repairs, and became Da Vinci Robotic surgery certified.
He is certified by the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS) in Bariatric Surgery and the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES) in Advanced Gastrointestinal Minimally Invasive Surgery.
He has numerous publications, and has presented his research at national conferences.
His interests now include minimally invasive laparoscopic and robotic surgery, medical and surgical weight loss, anti-reflux procedures, gastric electrical stimulation, hernia surgery, endoscopy and colonoscopy. He also treats a wide range of soft tissue masses, stomach, small intestine, colon, gallbladder, and appendiceal disorders.
Dr. James Nangeroni received his Bachelors of Science from Muhlenberg College in Allentown, PA in 2006. From there he worked as a Trauma Technician at the St. Luke’s University Hospital in Bethlehem, PA until starting medical school at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2009. Graduating in 2013, he then started his residency in general surgery at the Rowan University School of Osteopathic Medicine. Working at the Jefferson Health South Jersey campuses in Cherry Hill, Stratford, and Washington Township as well as Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Camden, he became interested in weight loss and hernia surgery. Currently, Dr. Nangeroni is part of NJ Weight Loss Doctors, one of the busiest bariatric surgical groups in the country. Dr. Nangeroni operates primarily at Southern Ocean Medical Center, and is on staff at Bayshore Medical Center and Raritan Bay Medical Center-Perth Amboy. In July of 2021 Southern Ocean Medical Center has started its robotics surgery program with the DaVinci Xi robotic surgery platform. Dr. Nangeroni has quickly adopted this new technology in his practice and is the highest volume robotic surgeon at the hospital and has performed the first robotic colon surgery at SOMC.
Dr. Nangeroni performs a large variety of minimally invasive surgical procedures. Gallbladder, stomach, colon, small bowel, weight loss, and hernia operations are performed using small incisions which allow for faster recovery and reduced pain. The DaVinci robot is being utilized in most of Dr. Nangeroni’s surgeries
Dr. Richard Greco is a board-certified general surgeon specializing in minimally invasive and bariatric surgery. He is affiliated with multiple hospitals in New Jersey, including Bayshore Community Hospital, Southern Ocean Medical Center, Hackensack University Mountainside Hospital, and Raritan Bay Medical Center. He offers a range of surgical services, with a particular focus on advanced laparoscopic techniques and bariatric procedures.
Dr. Greco completed his fellowship in Minimally Invasive and Bariatric Surgery at Hackensack University Medical Center. He completed his surgical residency at St. Joseph's Regional Medical and Trauma Center, where he served as Chief Surgical Resident. He earned his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Biology from the Georgia Institute of Technology.
Dedicated to advancing the field of surgery, Dr. Greco has presented research at national conferences, including the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES) and the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons (ACOS) meetings. He has received numerous accolades for his work, including the SLS Outstanding Laparo-endoscopic Resident Award and Doctor of the Year at Bayshore Community Hospital.
Dr. Greco is a member of several professional organizations, including the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery, the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons, and the American Osteopathic Association. He is fluent in Spanish. Outside of medicine, he enjoys spending time with his family and pursuing interests such as reading, teaching, watching movies, and playing football.
